Top 10 Reasons To Shop Local
This Holiday Season

We CARE – we’re your Neighborhood Toy Store!

When you head out the door with your list you have a choice and we are thankful that we’re your destination when it comes to quality, original, educational and fun gifts for the kids (and the kids at heart) you are buying for.

We do our best to give you a happy and fun shopping experience. We want you to try, touch and play with the toys you’re choosing whenever possible. We’ll wrap your gifts and help you with the door or help you carry your purchases to your car.

We don’t want you to buy the HOT toys, we want you to buy the RIGHT toys that fit the need of each special child in your life!

1. We CARE about you! The interaction we enjoy each day at the store with customers, both adult and child, have led to warm relationships through the years. The Learning Tree is our ultimate social networking center!

2. We CARE about our community! You are our friends and neighbors. Because of your patronage, we are able, proud, and happy to donate to hundreds of local children’s organizations, schools and community projects every year. We love helping our local kids and families!

3. We CARE about providing quality toys, games and books for kids so they can grow up to be the best they can be! Play matters – it’s a vital part of child development and supports the path to important physical, cognitive, social and emotional milestones.

4, We CARE about playing games and having fun! We’re not kidding – in our monthly staff meetings we pull out new games and toys to play with and share all that delight us. We are serious about the value of play. We even have staff game nights!

5. We CARE about our passionate staff! Our Toy Experts inspire us and devote themselves to learning about our toys, learning about YOU, our customers, and they LOVE to play!

6. We CARE about our Learning Tree connections! Our toy makers, our reps, and our fellow toy store owners are caring, creative people who want to make a difference in the world, one kid at a time. What a wonderful bunch to call our friends!

7. We CARE about being challenged! Stumped for ideas? Have a child with a particular interest? It makes us feel good when you rely on us. Your special need becomes our project. We do our best to find the source for a new or interesting toy, game or book that is exactly what you’re looking for.

8. We CARE about getting compliments from YOU! Every time we hear someone say “I just love the Learning Tree,” we feel warm all over! We pledge to do our best to be your favorite neighborhood toy store.

9. We CARE that our local business helps to strengthen our local economy! Each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns 3 times more money to our local economy than one spent at a chain (almost 50 times more than buying from an online mega-retailer) — a benefit we all can bank on! We use local suppliers, sign makers, window cleaners, bankers, attorneys, and other professionals for our business needs.

10. We CARE about the choices we bring to you! We bring our distinct character and unique stores to our community. We are in your neighborhood and help shape the character of the places you shop, eat, and spend your time. We love delighting you with a personal, unique, and interesting experience!

turkey on the table

Bring Thanksgiving and Gratitude to your table!

Do you have your turkey ordered? We’ve got a special “Turkey on the Table” that we think belongs at your Thanksgiving this year!

This plump, fabric turkey starts out with no feathers. Write things that you are thankful for on one side of each blank feather and add them to the turkey. The turkey becomes a center piece and the feathers can be read aloud and shared.

Turkey on the Table is the perfect Thanksgiving activity that can become an annual holiday tradition for your family year after year. Will your family be guests at someone else’s Thanksgiving table? Hurry in, Turkey on the Table would be a lovely gift for your hosts!

Turkey on the Table not only brings thanksgiving and gratitude to your holiday, but the two women who created this product have teamed up with Feeding America and donate 10 meals to someone in need with each Turkey on the Table sold.

Each turkey comes with a set of feathers, a pen, and a storybook. Additional packs of feathers are available.

Create a new, giving tradition this year with Turkey on the Table.

Sept. 26, 2017 Newsletter – Author Alastair Heim Visits Storytime

The Learning Tree toy stores 913-385-1234

It’s officially Autumn and we’re filling the calendar with fun, fall activities!

Alastair Heim Visits Storytime
Today and Tomorrow!

Alastair will be reading with us at Storytime!

TODAY, Sept. 26th at 10:30am – Corinth Square
TOMORROW, Sept. 27th at 10:30am – Park Place

Alastair HeimFinishing up our special Storytime Goes Local series this week is Alastair Heim.

Alastair Heim, a Missouri resident just across the state line, is the author of three delightful picture books No Tooting at Tea, The Great Puppy Invasion (Arriving October!) and Love You Too.

Alastair is also the dad of three delightful children who are often the inspiration for his book ideas.

No Tooting At Tea bookTake No Tooting at Tea – Alastair was attending an imaginary tea party hosted by his children. All were proper and demonstrating appropriate tea party etiquette until somebody TOOTED! The tea party hostess exclaimed “There is NO TOOTING AT TEA!” and a story idea was born!

Kids and grownups love this silly, cleverly written classic with its humor and delightful language inspired by a tea party gone wrong. The back of the book includes a page of fun tea party ideas too.

Get to know Alastair: If Alastair had to pick his favorite sound it would be laughter! If he had to pick a favorite color it would be purple. If he had to pick a favorite food – anything cooked by somebody else!

Alastair is passionate about children’s books. When he’s writing a book, he imagines the parent/child experience the book will bring. That’s because his love of children’s books grew as he enjoyed books with his own kids.

We’ll keep you posted about Alastair Heim – he’s got two more books out in 2018 including No Peeking at Presents, a prequel to No Tooting at Tea!

Visit Alastair’s website or follow him on Twitter.

Come see him read this morning!
