Sister Team Wins the Best Booth Contest at The Kids Flea Market

Sister Team Wins Best Booth Award at Flea MarketSister Team Wins the Best Booth Contest!

The rain stayed away and it was a beautiful morning for the 8th Annual Kid’s Flea Market.
Thank you to our amazing community for coming out for this event! The parking lot and sidewalks in front of Corinth Learning Tree were buzzing with young salespeople eager to sell their outgrown toys and books.
Great Harvest Bread Co. was flipping complimentary pancakes under their tent. Families were creative this year. Booths were decorated with handmade signs and there were delicious homemade treats. One multi-generational family set up a very professional lemonade stand complete with signs and aprons as part of their double booth.
Registered families participated in the first ever, Best Booth Contest this year. Annabelle and Adeline, a sister team, were chosen as the winners of a $25 Learning Tree gift Certificate and an “insiders tour” of the store for their booth design.

Any unsold items may be donated to Operation Breakthrough, a nationally accredited, not-for-profit corporation that began in 1971 as a response to requests from parents in the central city for quality child care for children of the working poor.

The program began with 50 infants, toddlers and preschoolers at 31st and Paseo. In 1976, it expanded to include before- and after-school care. The Center moved to its current location at 31st and Troost in 1981. Since that time, it has added a broad range of social services to meet the needs of the children and their families. In 2006, Operation Breakthrough completed an expansion and renovation project that doubled the size of the facility and increased its licensed capacity from 353 children to over 500.

Operation Breakthrough’s initial funding came from the Model Cities Program and a grant from the Hall Family Foundation. Current funding comes from a federal Head Start grant, the State of Missouri, the city of Kansas City, private donations and various foundations.

Operation Breakthrough relies on the generosity of people like you to continue its work.

Thanks for a Great Kids Flea Market!

We had perfect weather and a great crowd for our 5th Annual Kids Flea Market in Corinth Square Shopping Center. Prairie Village, KS was buzzing with shoppers looking (and finding!) bargains.

We had lots of return shop keepers and many kids who were selling their gently used toys, books, games, dolls, action figures and more for the first time.

Thanks to all the kids and parents and bargain hunters who made our 5th year such a success. Sister Berta and everyone at Operation Breakthrough were so grateful to receive all the donations after the sale ended. Lots of deserving children will get toys and books in the coming weeks and months because of our your generosity.

Enjoy the photos and be sure to come see us again for our HUGE Sidewalk Sale. Details to be announced soon.
